Advantages of Aluminum

Aluminum is the most versatile metal with many advantages, it is known for being both lightweight and flexible. It has the ability to be cast, melted, shaped, machined and extruded. Meaning it can be processed into a variety of shapes and fabricated to suit a whole variety of issues. With such veracity and strength and lightness the usage of aluminium is becoming more popular in usage, with the process of aluminium extrusion it can be supplied in even more complex designs with finishes and anodised, mill or painted further machined and fabricated.

Light Weight

Known to be lightweight, its approximate weight is 2.71 g/cm3. That’s about a third of the weight of steel this advantage makes it easier and cost effective to mobilise and transport compared to other metals. Various alloying elements can be used to benefit including higher strength or easier formability. Due to its lightweight, corrosion resistance, and easy to fabricate, aluminium sheets are the most suitable for vehicle panelling, artwork, building cladding, kitchen fitting and many other works.

Corrosion resistance

Being a corrosion resistant metal it naturally generates a protective coating, the coating formed is flimsy and is formed when aluminium comes into contact with an oxidizing environment. This protective layer helps protect the surface of the metal from corrosion. Additional treatment such as painting or anodizing can further improve its overall corrosion resistance of the metal.

Electrical & Thermal conductivity

Aluminium is an excellent conductor to electricity and heat, but compared to copper it falls short as it is a third of the weight meaning that aluminium wire with half the weight of a copper wire has the same amount of electrical resistance. Hence it is the chosen material for power transmission lines. Aluminium is a good conductor of heat and is used as a heat sink in a variety of applications like led lights, electrical products computers motherboards etc.

Ductility & Reflectivity

Aluminium serves as a good reflector, it is used as rescue blankets, light fittings this is so since it reflects both light and heat.

Odourless and Impermeable

Even with 0.007 mm thickness of aluminum foil it stays impermeable with no substance taste or smell hence used as to pack food products and used in the packing of Pharma products

Recyclability

Aluminum is 100% recyclable, moreover it retains all its original properties during production, it is most cost effective to use recycled metal than prime metal. During recycle most of the material is used as possible.
