Alloy Steel

Alloy Steel
Category: Nickel Alloy
Alloy steel is primarily composed of iron and carbon, with additional chemical alloys mixed such as copper, manganese, nickel, etc. the added elements range from 1.0% to 50% of the complete steel alloy weight that helps in the properties of the final product, this enhances in the oxidation resistance, elasticity ductility and the strength of the steel.

Alloy Steel Classification

Generally, alloy steel is divided into the following two types.

High- Alloy steel

The elements that contain this type of alloy steel has a concentration greater than 10% of the total steel mass.

Low-alloy steel

Elements such as Silicon, Manganese, Chromium, Silicon, etc., at the ratio of 10% are added to create low-alloy steel. Such Low-Alloy Steel is widely used in the market for various reasons.

Alloy Steel Characteristics

The characteristics of Alloy steel based on the following:

Mechanical properties

Alloy Steel possess higher strength compared to carbon steel this is even more evident after quenching and tempering process.

Heat resistance

Alloy steel has high mechanical properties in hardened state with temperatures exceeding 200 degrees Celsius, to achieve such characteristic, an addition of elements with relative high concentrations is added to it.

Physical & Chemical properties

This alloy steel is corrosion resistant it also has exceptional expansibility when temperatures change.

Alloy Steel Applications

Architecture and Engineering: High-strength alloy steel is the most preferred Alloy to construct Bridges, Building Structure, and Heavy Machinery etc. Its excellent strength and longevity ensures safety and long term endurance. Chemical & Petroleum Industry: Its high corrosion resistance are preferable within chemical and petroleum industries, It is used in pipelines, storage tanks, reactors etc. Energy & Power Generation: In the energy sector heat tolerance and corrosion resistance play an important role, such as a necessary requirement in the manufacturing of gas turbines, boilers, and nuclear reactors. Mining & Quarrying: Alloy steel customised for heavy usage for tolerance in wear and tear is used in equipment, such as excavators, crushers, grinders, to improve its endurance and life in service. Electrical & Electronics: Electrical alloy steel is very much present in the manufacturing of motors and transformers, it contributes in efficient energy transmission and stable electrical performance. Automotive & Transportation: Within the Automotive industry high strength and corrosion resistant is widely used in engine components, body structure, and transmission system. Medical Devices & Aerospace: Due to its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance features, its stays as the most preferred alloy in use to manufacture medical devices and aerospace equipment
