The name Inconel steel applies to all nickel chromium based austenitic steels. These are superalloys of chromium and nickel. They perform extremely well under high pressure and high temperature environments. They are very much resistant to oxidation corrosion and therefore could be used in oxidation prone applications. Like the weathering steel, Inconel material also forms an oxide layer upon first contact with oxidizing agents and then oxide layer prevents from further corrosion due to oxidation. Thermally induced crystal vacancies are less or absent in Inconel material which make them applied in high temperature environments where ordinary steel or aluminum would not stand. The Inconel density changes with the different grades of the material. There are different grades designated by numbers such as 600, 617, 625, 690, 718 and X750. The Inconel 600 for example has 8.47 grams per centimeter cube of density. These are developed through different methods. Depending on the grade, they could be formed either by solid solution strengthening or precipitation strengthening methods. The gamma double prime forming cubic crystals avoid the creep in elevated temperatures. For this purpose, niobium is added in some precipitation strengthening grades. Due to the rapid hardening of the material, cold working is not possible. Also, machining is difficult on these materials. There are special tools and procedures involved in the machining of this material to avoid the plastic deformation of the material or the tools. The Inconel price is competitive and we can provide you with a comprehensive price list upon request. There are different grades of the Inconel alloy that are used in different industries and applications. The Inconel x-750 is used mostly in gas turbine components such as blades, seals and rotors. There are different Inconel applications but mostly in the aviation, space and gas industries. The different Inconel grades can be used for different purposes.
