Super Duplex is the very best in highly alloyed stainless steel that combines with the very best of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel hence it is known as super duplex metal. Basically its structure consists of austenitic and ferritic both mix in two phases, this mix up gives it amazing strength and super resistance towards any corrosion, practically in extreme conditions. This microstructure of dual phase with equal parts of austenite and ferrite gives a balance of properties that make the super duplex superior with durability and versatility.
Different types of Super Duplex Stainless Steel.
Super duplex stainless steel are a combination engineered to create extreme strength and to encounter any possibility of corrosion formation it is suitable towards extreme environments. Although super duplex within its category come in various grades but only a handful of them stand out due to their popularity in usage with exceptional performance.
The most regular grades in use super are duplex, UNS S32750 (2507), UNS S32760 (Zeron 100), and USN S32550 (Ferralium 255), among others.
UNS S32750 (2507)
UNS S32750 is known as alloy 2507, it is one of the most regular super duplex stainless steel grades in use, its composition consists of 25% chromium, 75% nickel and 4%molybdenum, this composition is the main factor for its strength and exceptional prevention towards chloride-induced corrosion. This grade is mostly used in oil-gas chemical processing, marine environment industries where durability and longevity is the essence.
UNS S32760 (Zeron 100)
UNS S32760 is known as alloy Zeron 100, this is another impressive super duplex grade, very much known for its corrosive resistance and strength abilities. It has a different composition of 25% chromium, 7% nickel and 3.2% molybdenum, with an additional of tungsten and copper.
Zeron 100 give super protection against aggressive corrosive possibilities. It is mostly used in oil-gas companies, desalination plants, and chemicals industries.
UNS S32550 (Ferralium 255)
Ferralium 255 (UNS S32550) is known as a super duplex alloy in stainless steel, it offers an exceptional duel advantages of strength and ductility with added corrosion resistance ability, its composition has a lower chromium content of 25% and a much moderate nickel contents, this alloy is in the making for both corrosion resistance and hardness. Ferralium 255 is mostly preferred under environments for resistance and crevice corrosion this is the primary factor it is used in marine engineering and pollution industries.
